Coffee Cafe Spinner Card--Global Design Project #090

If you know me, you know my favorite items in the new Stampin' Up catalog are in the Coffee Break Suite--click the link to check them out.  As soon as I saw the sketch for the Global Design Project #090, I knew I wanted to make a Coffee Cafe Spinner Card.  I remembered seeing a video on YouTube from Wendy Cranford in the past, and searching "Wendy Cranford Spinner Card" brought up her tutorial she featured during Halloween.  I encourage you to check it out and make a spinner card for yourself!

Here are some photos of my process.  If you'd like to purchase the product to create these spinner cards for yourself, check out my online store.  If you are local and would like to schedule a class, contact me and let's set up a crafty adventure for you and your family or friends!

First use the framelits to cut the adorable coffee cups out of the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper. Then prep the die cuts by adding a lot of sticky adhesive to the back of the cups.

Once I had them all nice and sticky, I used Silver Metallic Thread in the middle and stuck two of the cups back to back.  Be sure to pull the thread REALLY tight during this step.

Next, I put adhesive along the card base, which I had previously die cut a circle out of.  When pushing the thread down into the adhesive, again make sure it is pulled REALLY tight.

Next, place the die cut designer series paper down to cover the thread, and to add some extra cuteness of course!

Lastly, add the cute scalloped die cut to add a spotlight to the spinner portion of the card.  Then, twist the die cut around and around multiple times, open the card, and it will spin around and around!

See the spinning in action?

So cute, right?

Now it is time for you to drink a cup of coffee and then go try to make a spinner card!

Global Design Project Sketch Challenge #GDP082--More Disney Freak!

I love using a sketch to get my creative juices flowing.  Using pattern papers and cardstock is like a painter using a palette.  A good sketch can be an inspiration to seeing a new combination that you otherwise wouldn't have thought of.  This is my first time participating in the Global Design Project. This week the sketch challenge is #GDP082--I had just finished my Disney Freak scrapbook layout when I saw the sketch and knew I wanted to make a Disney themed card. Adventure definitely awaits if you are planning a Disney trip.  I am a high school teacher, and this will be our second year of taking our Seniors to Disneyland Grad Night--it's a long bus ride, and staying up all night can be a challenge when you've left your teen years long ago, but it is a super fun trip and the memories are worth the exhaustion!  I will be using this card as a template to share with the rest of the staff on the upcoming trip! Here are some supplies you'll need if you'd like to m
